“Carry You Home” Alex Warren
Alex Warren draws attention. Not only mine, obviously everybody’s. After I carefully read the lyrics of “Ordinary”, I found he’s quite a good singer and expresses song contexts in an authentic way like Elton John or even Whitney Houston. Of course the song is strong enough itself to catch listeners, Alex brings much powerful meanings by connecting words with his melodies. He makes it easier to listen to this difficult theme with the power of rock.
“Pink Pony Club” Chappell Roan
I was just surprised that this song was released in 2020. “Pink Pony Club” got 32nd on the billboard 2024 top 100 single. The Grammy award caused the song to be high-positioned on both UK and US charts now for sure. I myself listened to it in April 2025 for the first time, sorry. The composition is very solid like late 1980’s to early 1990’s, electric guitar solo seems a little old-fashioned while it must be kinda new to most young generations. Productionwise, a fat saturated Oberheim-like synth sound creates such a retro feeling. Addition to that, this song reminds me of Eurythmics with her voice sounds closer to Annie Lennox.
“Cowboys Cry Too” Kelsea Ballerini and Noah Kahan
The beginning of the fiddle riff accelerates Kelsea’s emotional humming, this short intro caught me a while. Her verse on the minor melodies expresses the shade of human soul, while she relieves us with the very first word on the chorus *Cowboys Cry Too*. A short phrase of the fiddle at the end of the chorus reminds me of The Cheeks’ *Cowboy Take Me Away*. The song is the lead single of Kelsea’s fifth studio album Patterns.
“I’m the Problem” Morgan Wallen
Morgan Wallen put another expression of desperate men on the bar counter. “I’m The Problem” is the title song and the fourth single from the album “I’m the Problem”. It sounds like a shot of whisky may release a broken soul for a brief moment while most fans know that he has such a strong heart even when he sings about man’s vulnerability. Country is a popular music genre that reflects everyday people’s life all the time, however many stars have gone away from that after becoming a “star”. Down to the fact, they’ve gone off the scene, because fans didn’t feel sympathy any more. It seems like Morgan is still there at his standing point where he started, established and became a singer. That’s why people love his music.
